Operation Midnight Hammer

Thirty-seven hours, no shots fired at the package, and a weapon fifteen years in the making finally used for the thing it was built for.

On the night of 21–22 June 2025, seven B-2 Spirits launched from Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, while two more flew west toward Guam as decoys. More than 125 aircraft supported the package. At 2:10 a.m. Iran time the lead bomber put two GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators on the first aim point at Fordow; six aircraft delivered twelve MOPs down the facility's ventilation shafts, and a seventh dropped two more on Natanz. Roughly thirty Tomahawks from a submarine struck Isfahan, which sat too deep even for the MOP. It was the first operational use of the 30,000-pound penetrator, and the largest B-2 strike since 2001. Iran's fighters did not fly. Its air defenses did not see the bombers. The crews' families found out where they had been about the same time the rest of the world did.

The Massive Ordnance Penetrator traces to 2004 and two officers at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency who looked at early imagery of Fordow and concluded nothing in the inventory could reach it. This shirt is filed accordingly.
